When is Normalene® Macrogol 4000 indicated
Normalene® Macrogol 4000 is useful for the treatment of constipation in adults and children.
What is Normalene® Macrogol 4000
Normalene® Macrogol 4000 regularizes the bowel; it is indicated in cases of chronic constipation and in cases of occasionally irregular bowel.
Macrogol 4000 is a mixture of high molecular weight polymers that are not absorbed and not metabolized by the intestinal bacterial flora. Macrogol 4000 acts as a pure osmotic agent by retaining water in the intestines; this promotes bowel peristalsis, stool softening, and subsequent evacuation without causing cramping, abdominal pain, and urgent conditions.
Normalene® Macrogol 4000:
1. It is not absorbed intestinally
2. Is excreted in the feces in an unmodified form
3. It does not ferment
4. Does not irritate the mucosa
5. The action does not diminish over time
6. Can be taken from the age of 3 years.
Unless otherwise prescribed by a physician, it is advisable to use Normalene® Macrogol 3350
- Adults, the elderly and children 12 years of age and older: 1 full-dose sachet (13.3 g) 1-3 times daily and dilute the contents 125 ml of water (1 glass of non-carbonated water)
- Children 7 to 11 years of age: half a sachet (6.65mg) twice a day and dilute the contents the 62.5 ml of water (about half a glass of non-carbonated water)
- Children 3 to 6 years of age: half a sachet (6.65mg) once a day and dilute the contents the 62.5 ml of water (about half a glass of non-carbonated water).
Do not administer the product under 3 years of age.
Gluten-free and lactose-free. Orange flavor.
Do not take Normalene® Macrogol 4000 in cases of intestinal stenosis, intestinal perforation and inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis.
The duration of treatment with Normalene® Macrogol 4000 should not exceed two weeks of treatment. Prolonged use may be necessary in refractory and/or chronic constipation that may be caused by taking pain medications and for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
